Exceptionally fast to assemble and easy to use: the Probe 320 Speed Lock is all about speed in the most complicated scenarios. Our probes have a singular purpose, and that’s what they are designed for, down to the very last detail. Durable aluminum provides a stable and lightweight construction for the Probe 320 Speed Lock. The glove-friendly, high-tensile telescopic Speed Lock system is specially designed for a quick, reliable assembly. On extension, an audible click tells you the probe is tensioned correctly and fully engaged. The ergonomic handle can be clipped onto the extended probe, keeping it out of the way while in use. The enhanced, 360 degree visual depth guide ensures you always have the right information to hand, while the shaped tip has been designed to cut through debris efficiently, saving energy when probing. The bottom section of the probe is highlighted orange for a visual guide as you near a buried victim. All Mammut avalanche probes are UIAA certified for efficient rescue, durability and ergonomic handling. This probe measures 45cm when collapsed, 320cm when extended, and includes a cover with integrated emergency plan.

It works. The additional length It works. The additional length was only a bother in a class when we were practicing probing in the trees which may be a practical problem if you are in glades or other areas with dense tree coverage.

Excellent probe. I have used this probe a handful of times in practice for my AIARE class and in the beacon parks. My instructors recommended the slightly longer length compared to some of the kit ones. Marking on it are clear and I have been able to throw deploy and tension it as fast as any of the probes that were being used. Mammut makes great products. Ill updated again at the end of season

Great probe pole. This probe is easy to deploy, very long and strong. I have practiced with this probe pole a couple of times. It is pretty intuitive and quick to set up. It is thick enough to not deflect but light so it is easy to carry on long tours.

Get the 320 probe, not a shorter one! Probe seems easy to use and reliable. I trust steel more than aluminum. Also, imo, it doesn't make sense to get a probe shorter than 320 cm. If you need the extra length, you will be glad to have it!

Quick, Solid Never had to use in an actual avalanche situation. But in practice it pops together really easily, much more so than the black diamond equipment I used in the past. It locks in place well, and appears to be sturdy. Hopefully it never gets used for real. I've been backcountry skiing for a 5 years and this is my favorite probe I've used.

Quick draw A 320m probe is a bit overkill, but was suggested to get a probe 3m and above. It has the best construction and is quick to open. Fits well in the pack.
