The braids and cord manufacturer Edelmann + Ridder, aka Edelrid, was founded in 1863 in Isny, Allgäu. The very first kernmantle rope was introduced to the market by Edelrid in 1953, and has been the benchmark for mountain rope production ever since. To this day, the manufacturer produces its ropes, lines, slings, and adjustable straps exclusively in Isny. In addition to mountain sports gear, the company, which has since become part of Vaude Group, also manufactures products for various industries and work safety gear.
