In 1921, Marc Millet and his wife founded a small company that produced canvas bags. Their two sons took over the company in 1945. René, one of the brothers, was a member of the CAF (French Alpine Club) and developed the first Millet backpacks that were made for mountaineering. In the 1950s, Millet transformed itself into the leading backpack manufacturer in France. Today, Millet works alongside top climbers and mountaineers to create a full range of backpacks, clothing and equipment for mountain sports.
