  Great lead-belay device Super handy gadget that I like best for lead belaying. The best at managing slack and reacts quick under a fall. Lowering is also pretty intuitive. Compared to an ATC it lacks the two-rope design for rappelling but its auto locking (practically auto locking) feature is a bonus.   I love this belay device! Super simple to operate, uses physics and not mechanical devices, makes it easier to train yourself in high stress conditions, where tactile small motor skills can degrade. Would recommend to novice and experienced climbers.

  Best Belay Device for lead Best belay device Ive used for lead climbing. You do need to be mindful of cross loading but if you use the smart carabiner its not an issue. Its not perfect as it isnt meant for rappelling but the cost of a smart and an atc to go along with it can still be cheaper than other assisted braking devices.

  Simplisticaly safe. Easiest locking belay device I have ever used. Have tried all the others but continue to use this one. Recommend that you use a steel carabiner or a biner with a steel sleeve. Angle of rope through device places excess wear on an aluminum biner.
