Despite its simple appearance, the DMM Wallnut is a highly featured piece of hardware that serves as a basis for building a comprehensive climbing rack.
Features
Wallnuts can be placed in 2 different orientations, allowing a single nut to cover a range of cracks
They are tapered across both their face and sides, helping them sit better in cracks that are rarely parallel sided
Grooved faces reduce weight and help the nut seat better in cracks, improving security in shallow placements and resisting lifting out when a leader moves past the nut
Wallnuts are mounted on wires that are stiff enough to allow overhead placements, yet flexible enough to reduce the chance of lifting out
Color coding helps with quick and easy selection of the correct size from your harness; colors correspond with the rest of the DMM protection range
A different alloy is used for each size—smaller Wallnuts are harder to prevent shearing, while larger sizes are softer so they can bite into placements
Larger Wallnuts feature hollow construction to reduce weight
Complemented by other, more specialized pieces of protection, Wallnuts may well become the most regularly used piece of protection on your harness
